My sister-in-law came down to visit me here in Australia. I have not seen her for nearly 15 years. She still lives on the island where I came from.
Above is the photo of the volcano erupting. Smoke and ash is still billowing forth from the volcano, as you can see in this photo.
I have not been back for a long time. The house that I grew up in, is covered in volcanic ash, metres deep. My home town is like a lunar landscape.
It still looks so beautiful.
People have started to rebuild their lives in a neighbouring town. It's starting to thrive again.
My sister-in-law, Rose, is involved in a programme to help the women and young people in the villages to be self sufficient. They have sessions in teaching them how to manage their money, how to market their goods and save for bigger items.
When Rose saw the StitchandMend mini travel sewing kit an idea is born... maybe we can help the women and teach them how to stitch and mend their own and children's clothes.
That is where Kit is going. To this beautiful island in the pacific... the place I used to call home.
That, dear friends, is in the near future and I will keep you posted on developments in this beautiful country where the people have so little and can always freely give you a smile...
