It's hard to believe that our home was at the bottom of this volcano, in Rabaul.
The town of Rabaul where I was born, grew up and went to primary school there, was built on a crater surrounded by a few volcanoes.
I still have family who live and work there.
These photos were taken by my brother, Bernard.
I wrote a previous post of my sister-in-law taking Kit- the mini sewing kit home with her. This is the place. My birth place.
There were no poisonous snakes in Rabaul. Was told that snakes do not like the smell of sulphur, so wandering up the grassy slopes of mountains where I lived became an occasional adventure for us.
I think it's time to go back for a visit...
